Painterly Botanicals Pattern Collection

Friday, October 25, 2024

...It was the little princess's first visit to a botanical garden and she was delighted to find that each flower had its very own name printed on tiny little signs. As she walked down the paths, she would stop momentarily to greet each flower by name. “Pleased to meet you, Mrs. Foxglove,”  she said with a little curtsy, followed quickly by giggles and squeals as she rushed to see the next flower. Each bloom was decidedly more of a mouthful and more grand than the one before...

I created these designs in collaboration with my daughter, Ella. Working together on this project was a labor of love. We finished them during Hurricane Helene and they were a bright spot of beauty at a time when we needed to have hope for better days.

This collection is unique in that the images are necessarily not meant to all go together, but rather each one of them can be used as a jumping off point for an entirely new coordinating pattern collection.

really enjoyed playing around with different color schemes for these flowers. I'm posting an assortment of colors and patterns, below.

To make these painterly designs, we first started with sketching botanicals on watercolor paper. Next Ella painted them with watercolors. They were then digitized and I couldn't help but add hand drawn accents to make the images a little more gritty and whimsical. We loved the results so much that we also transferred the illustrations into a set of 31 scripture cards for praise and worship. We have the set for sell in our Etsy store and in several local stores.

We created an Instagram reel showing the process of making these cards, here and here.

Suggested uses for these cards:

-Display in your home or office (frame them, put them in bowl, use a business card holder to stand them up, scatter them on a coffee table, ... the options are endless).

-Attach them to a gift as the gift tag.

-Use as a bookmark.

-Perfect for scripture memorization.

-Share with friends.

-Tape to your mirror or inside a cabinet for a happy reminder throughout your day.

-Write a note on the back and use as a notecard.

-Leave one on your table at a restaurant as a gift for your server.

You can purchase this scripture bundle at our Etsy Store, here
