Into the Forest is a mini-collection of rabbits, squirrels, foxes, and birds along side hand-drawn hearts and other flourishes.
When I was a child, I used to lay out on a blanket under large trees and stare up at the sky. I was often accompanied by my pet rabbits and a little snack baggy of treats (sometimes for me, sometimes for the critters). The crunch of the leaves, the warmth of the sun peaking through, the chitter of the squirrels, and the feelings of peace and love are still vividly remembered to this day. I used to carry on long conversations with the backyard wildlife and they never disappointed me in their reply's back.
Now that I am a momma, I love hearing my littlest love talk to the squirrels in our garden and address them each by name. With a wild enough imagination, a backyard corner can become a forest full of friends.
